Meine Enkelin wünscht sich einen Max, den sie in ihre Pupenbadewanne stecken kann. An Maxens Garderobe habe ich einige Abende beim Fernsehen verbracht. Die Strickmode ist nun komplett, die übrige Kleidung wird noch mit der Maschine genäht. Weiß jemand vielleicht, ob und wo man Windeln für solche Puppen kaufen kann? Baby Max will be a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. I spent several nights on Maxe's clothes while watching TV. Now that all knits are done I will make some more from fabric with my sewing machine. Does anybody have infos where to get diapers for dolls like this ?

Gestern gabs den Buchhüllen workshop in einer kleinen gemütlichen Runde. Die Teilnehmer arbeiteten effektiv und zielbewußt und schafften erstaunlich viel in den 6 Stunden. Sie hatten viel Spaß dabei und zeigten viel Fantasie. - yesterday I gave a workshop about book wrappings. It was a small group but nevertheless they had a lot of fun. They worked fast with lots of phantasy and get a lot done within those 6 hours. We had a great time.

WOCHENEND KURSE - WEEKEND - CLASSES

An den vergangenen 2 Wochenenden war ich vollauf mit Kursen beschäftigt. Der 1. war ein Anfängerkurs in dem man an verschiedenen Sternen arbeitete.- On both previous weekends I was very busy with 2 classes. The beginner class worked on 4- 5 different stars which came out really nice.

Ich hatte vorgeschlagen, auch Dirndlstoffe zu verwenden

Renate war immer etwas frustiert mit der Maßarbeit. Die freie Schneidetechnik, die ich für Sie vorbereitet hatte, kam ihr sehr gelegen .- Renate always was frustrated about the exact measuring that traditional pattern requires. She loved the free cutting method and the contemporary look.

Ohlala, da scheint etwas nicht ganz korrekt zusammengesetzt worden zu sein . Oh o there is something wrong with the star.

DIE FREUDEN EINER GROSSMUTTER - THE PLEASURE OF BEEING A GRANDMA

Weihnachten ist nicht mehr weit und als ich diese Babypuppe in Frankreich bei einem Einkaufsbummel entdeckte, dachte ich sofort an meine 2 jährige Enkelin. Ihre 1. Puppe war vor einiger Zeit kaputt gegangen und nun steht eine neue auf der Wunschliste.
Christmas is around the corner and when I found this baby doll in France I knew I had to buy it for my 3 year old granddaughter. Not long ago her first doll broke apart and now she already put a replacement on her wishlist for Santa Claus.

Ich hatte es ganz vergessen , wieviel Spass es macht, eine Puppe anzuziehen. So, die erste Garnitur ist der Anfang.

I forgot how much fun it is to dress a doll. Now I will make some clothes during nights while watching TV and you can already admire
the first outfit.

Und hier ist Nele, immer sehr konzentriert mitdem, was sie gerade tut. - And this is Nele our precious darling , always concentrating in what she is doing .

WIEDER EIN T-SHIRT - ANOTHER T-SHIRT

Mein neues T-shirt, das 11. in meiner Collektion, ist im Augenblick mein Favorit. Ich finde die Farbkomposition und das Muster einfach super.

The new T-Shirt in my collection of 11 is my favorite one . I love the color combination and the design.

Das Muster habe ich auf eine dünne Bürofolie gemalt und mit dem Messer ausgeschnitten.
I made a template from a plastic sheet I found in office supply and cut it out with the x acto knife.

Nachdem ich die verdickte Farbe aufgtragen habe, muß sie erst trocknen und fixiert werden.

After I painted it with dye paste it needed to dry .

COOLE STERNE _ SOME COOL STARS

Meine letzten Kurse in diesem Jahr , die zum Teil auch schon angelaufen sind, haben alle das selbe Thema, nämlich STERNE. Dazu habe ich verschiedene Varianten ausprobiert.

Diese freigeschnittenen Formen haben mir am meisten Spaß gemacht und eignen sich hervorragned zur Verwertung von Resten - I love these free form cuts made from scraps. It is a lot of fun.

Diese traditionellen Sterne sind ein bißchen schwieriger und nur für Fortgeschrittene geeignet.
. links: Man arbeitet mit Einastz , Mitte:auf Papier, rechts: ich hatte keine Vorlage und mußte 3 Versuche machen, um das Sechseck passend zu machen. - These traditional quilts are a little tricky and more suitable for advanced quilters . from left to right: 1. insert pattern, 2. paperpiecing, 3. I had no pattern and it took me three samples to have all pieces fit .

QUILTAUSSTELLUNG IN MARSEILLE

An dem einzigsten bewölkten Tag unseres Frankreichsaufenthalt entschlossen wir, nach Marseille zu fahren. Nachdem wir den ganzen Tag die Stadt erkundet hatten, entdeckte mein Mann zum guten Schluß diese Quiltausstellung im Kulturzentrum der Stadt.

It was the only cloudy day during our visit when we decided to make a trip to Marseille . At the end of our dicovery tour my husband accidently found this quiltshow in the City's cultural center.

In der untersten Etage waren traditionelle französische Quilts ausgestellt. Die Ausstellungsräume waren alle schwarz angemalt, diese Wirkung kannte ich noch nicht. Sie waren zwar gut ausgeleuchtet, für mich trotzdem düster. Deshalb konnte ich auch nicht , die Namen der Künstlerinnen lesen und ohne Brille schon gar nicht.

The 1. floor showed French traditional quilts. All walls were painted black which I found unsual and rather dark despite of good lights . That's why I was not able to read the artist's names.

Dieser Quilt beeindruckte schon durch seine Größe, bestimmt 2m x 2m .

Der 2. Teil der Ausstellung war eine Zusammenarbeit mit Amerikanerinnen aus der Stadt Lafayette in Louisianna , die die ''Freundschaft zwischen Frankreich und Amerika'' zum Thema gemacht hatten. The 2. part of the exhibition showed 25 quilts all made by women from Lafayette /Louisianna. Their works were a representation of ''French/American friendship''which will go on tour throughout France..

ZURÜCK AUS FRANKREICH - BACK FROM FRANCE

Wie schön ist die Provence!! Ich hatte keine Ahnung, aber alle Vorhersagen haben sich bestätigt. Weinberge, in Felsen gebaute Dörfer, bunte Märkte, das Essen, der Wein und dann die Farben .....Einfach traumhaft. !!

How wonderful is the Provence! I had no idea but everything I heard before was proved rigth. Vinyards, villages up in mountains, markets so versatile, bright colors everywhere and not to forget the French food and wine. It could not get any better than that.

ROUSSILLON ist bekannt durch die Orange und Rottöne der Okkerfelsen. - ROUSSILLON is famous for its interesting quarrels consisting of red - orange sand.

Der gepresste Sand sieht aus wie Stein - The colored sand is so compressed that it lookes like a rock.

FOUNTAINE DE VAUCLUSE ist beeindruckend durch die Grotte und die Quelle, in deren Wasser so unglaublich grüne und blaue Farben spiegeln. FOUNTAINE DE VAUCLUSE is beautiful for its special spring that flows from the base of a cliff and has these magnificant shades of green.

VENASQUE

In dem idyllischen Dörfchen Venasque lebt der Webkünstler Daniel Drouin, dessen Atelier ich besuchen und fotografieren durfte. - In the pretty village of Venasque I visited the studio of fiber artist Daniel Drouin whose work I was allowed to photograph.

Seine modernen Wandbehänge sind aus Wolle gewebt. - His contemporary pieces are woven and made of wool.

VIVRE LA FRANCE

Ich bin ab morgen 2 1/2 Wochen in meinem Lieblingsland Europas und mache eine Bloggerpause. Au revoir et a bientot.

TEXTILMARKT BENEDIKTBEUREN

Am Wochenende fand der alljährliche Textilmarkt in Benediktbeuren statt. Er war auch diesmal ein Besuch wert. Das alte Kloster mit seinen Innenhöfen und großen Räumen bietet einfach eine tolle Atmosphäre, ganz besonders wenn das Wetter mitspielt.
This weekend we visited the yearly Textile Market in Benediktbeuren . It has always been a great experience to walk around the old cloister and its courtyards specially when the weather is beautiful.

Die Textilkünstlerin Ursula Pramer aus Österreich hat mir am besten gefallen. Dies ist der einzige Quilt aus selbstgefärften Stoffen, den sie mitgebracht hatte. Alle ihre Werke waren zwischen 2 breiten Holzleisten gespannt.
The Austrian textil artist Ursula Pramer was my favorite. This is the only quilt she brought. All of her pieces were mounted between 2 panels.

Mit diesen Blumen im Netz wollte die Künstlerin eine Leichtigkeit vermitteln, die ihr wunderschön gelungen ist. Das gefärbte Netz wurde auch mit der Nähmaschine hergestellt. Ich war von dieser Installation ganz beeindruckt.
'Something very light', the artist successfully created. Even the net is dyed by hand and constructed with the sewing machine. I just loved that installation.

Das gleiche Spiel mit roten Kreisen. - The same play with red circles.

Die andere Künstlerin, die mich beeindruckt hat, war Maria Köhler aus Lindau. Die Stimmung und Tiefe in ihren Wollbildern waren gekonnt dargestellt.

I also was impressed by the work of Maria Köhler from Lindau. She had a unique way to capture the mood and depth in her pictures all made of dyed yarn.
